Artemis is the Greek Goddess of the wilderness, wild animals and the Moon. She is often seen with a deer or dogs and her bow and golden arrows made by a cyclops, as her father Zeus commanded. Leto was her mother and Apollo her twin brother. As the goddess of the Moon, she is also associated with water and the feminine, further known to be the goddess of midwifery, childbirth and young girls.
Debra Haaland is the living American Icon LaHue has chosen as the embodiment of the Greek Goddess Artemis. Haaland is the 54th Secretary of the Interior for the United States, our first Native American Secretary in history. A self made woman, educated with a long history of serving her community. We need the spirit of Artemis, in Deb Haaland, to wake us up. Our part, as a nation, to poison the natural world must be addressed now. Collectively, we need her help, and to help her ensure every child born has a promise of clean water, land and air. Collectively, we must aid Deb Haaland in protecting the forests, pastures, crops, wild land, wild animals; to protect the water that keeps the natural world, which we are part of, alive.
