Heather Booth as Eileithyia

Eileithyia is known as the Greek Goddess of childbirth and midwifery in ancient Greek mythology.  The Goddess was present for the birth of Athena from the head of Zeus, and was present for the yearly birth of the divine child throughout Greece.  Associated with the three Fates: Spinner, Allotter and Inflexible, she was considered sitting beside them, as the “Clever Spinner.”  Often shown in art with flames, depicting bringing children into the light and the pains of childbirth.  Eileithyia once turned a maiden into a polecat, annoyed with her betrayal, which allowed Hercules to be born.  Revered and worshiped for her care of mothers and guidance for midwives and through childbirth, she sometimes appears multiplied, as the Eileithyiai.

Heather Booth is the living American icon who embodies the Ancient Greek Goddess Eileithyia, the goddess of childbirth and midwifery.  An Army brat, Booth was active in civil rights before she graduated high school and was part of the civil rights, anti war and feminist movements going forward.  Notably, she organically created The Janes, stemming from a deep understanding of what it is to be a woman.  Both Booth and her husband’s deep roots in civil rights honed her skills as a community and political organizer, she is currently active with her recent refocus on voting rights.
