About:
In my speculative series, Outlandish, I introduce the Mutual Society of Well Wishers as an org that is concerned with the intra-connections between human and landscape bodies. The transcoporeal twin figures are non-cartesian, fluid, and entangled. In each transcript, the figures simultaneously carry the burdens they inherit and the dreams they can imagine. The details of the paper cuts only become visible when the encaustic wax underlay provides contrast. The precision of the cut and the impressionism of the wax provides a portal into the imaginary. This particular process is a new exploration of how I’ve used paper and encaustic wax previously. I’m excited to take this concept of layering and color back into my public artwork in other materials where the totemic figures originated.
