
Kenn Kotara
Kenn Kotara (born 1960, Lake Charles, LA) is an artist, educator and advocate. His mixed-medium works explores and exploits systems in language, geometry, cartography, and more, synthesizing graphic communication and architecture into what he labels landscapes. Kotara has exhibited at the Asheville Art Museum, North Carolina Museum of Art, Center for Political Contemporary Art (Wash. DC), Painting Center (NYC), Urban Institute of Contemporary Art (Grand Rapids), and Gallery Meepyung (Korea), among others. His work is in the permanent collections such as the Asheville Art Museum, Louisiana State Museum, Hilliard University Art Museum (UL-Lafayette), U.S. Embassy-Jamaica & Thailand, University of Texas Southwest Medical Center (Dallas), Bellagio (Las Vegas), Peninsula (Paris), Sun City (Tokyo), Western Asset Management (Sao Paulo), and the Yale-New Haven Hospital. Kotara has taught at the collegiate level and has served on numerous boards including OpenDoors of AVL, Asheville Public Art Board, and ArtSpace Charter School in Asheville. Kotara lives and works in Asheville, NC.
